How to Read Your Research Momentum Score: A Guide to the Lung Cancer Research Progress Tracker
The Research Momentum Score is a 0-to-100 number showing how many active clinical trials exist in a treatment category today, relative to the largest category โ it measures research volume, not treatment effectiveness.
Each of the six categories tracked by the tool โ immunotherapy, targeted therapy, cell and gene therapy, cancer vaccines, antibody-drug conjugates, and screening/early detection โ receives a live count of currently active, publicly registered trials. The category with the most trials becomes the reference point, and every other category is scored as a percentage of that reference count.
A score of 100 means that category currently has the most active trials of any tracked category. A score of 20 means that category has roughly a fifth as many active trials as the busiest category right now. Neither number says anything about how well any treatment in that category actually works โ it only reflects how much current research effort, measured in registered trial count, is being directed there.
It's worth remembering that trial count is an imperfect proxy for research importance. A category can have fewer, larger, and more advanced trials and still represent a major research priority; conversely, a category can have many small early-phase trials without yet producing a breakthrough. Use the score as a starting point for exploring a category further โ for example, by reading related articles in our library or checking the news section for specific results โ not as a final verdict.
